The judge failed to comply with the law and maintain professional competence in the law when the judge filed a response to a motion to recuse, engaged in ex parte communications with the court-appointed custody supervisor and engaged in an extra-judicial activity that cast reasonable doubt on the judge’s capacity to act impartially when the judge texted a former client concerning the client’s attendance at a hearing in a child custody case.
