The judge failed to comply with the law and to maintain professional competence in the law when he failed to obtain the judicial education and assistance necessary to properly preside over a civil trial before such case was presented, failed to announce his decision in that case in open court, and failed to use the proper judgment form in documenting his decision in the case.
