The canons provide that "the judicial duties of a judge take precedence over tall the judge's other activies" and a judge's extra-judicial activities must not "interfere with the proper performance of judicial duties". The judge must take all reasonable steps to ensure his court is open and accessible to the public; that court business is promptly and appropriately handled in his absence; and that monthly activity reports are timely filed with the appropriate entities as required by law.
