The judge failed to comply with the law and demonstrated a lack of professional competence in the law when she failed to schedule a trial after the defendant entered a not guilty plea and expressly requested a jury trial. Additionally, the judge failed to respond to the defendant's motion to compel discovery and request for a speedy trial, and further failed to respond to the prosecutor's request to set the defendant's motion for hearing, thereby depriving the defendant of his right to be heard. The judge also engaged in an improper ex parte communication with the prosecutor.
